GENERAL GRABBER X3 VS BFG KM3 PLUS

I have had the tires on for 26,000 miles and they have 10/32' left. I just measured the tires front and rear. They look to continue to increase traction, but again not a lot of long term data outside of the press releases. Ive had the original KM and the KM2, as well as the KO & KO2 (another thread for another time), but havent driven or owned the KM3s. I don't consider tires under 6/32 suitable for offroad use, so I don't count any mileage under that point in my estimates. BFG KM3: I personally have been a BFG guy for quite a while. Currently I think I might be able to get 30,000 out of them (now at 17,300).

Much less road noise while still being great off road. The Wildpeak wears like butter at first, then wear improves (though I am sure performance worsens in absolute terms I use the locker and MTS offroad and do not push it on road so I cannot tell). I got General Grabber X3 on my Jeep and like them better than the BFGs (older version) I had before. I’m looking at the BFG KM3, Yokohama G003, and General Grabber X3 tires. I like the look and capabilities of a mud terrain tire and have gotten 80k miles out of my current KMs (still have tread but are old and cracking). If the MT2 will wear down all together in 20k with frequent offroad use, that won't work well considering it is 250/tire. It’s time for new tires on my JKUR and I’d like to stay somewhat factory (255/75r17 or 255/80r17). Don't want to go back to LT-D KO2s, heavy and really not as good as the Wildpeak anywhere just stronger. I am still happy with my AT3W Wildpeaks but I want a Plan B should I decide I want a 3-ply sidewall tire again. I am looking at 255 75 17 MT2 because it is only 47lb and LT-C instead of E. What has you wear been per 1/32nds and over what mileage? I will buy them again and highly recommend them. Zero vibrations issues or odd wear issues.

And to my surprise very good in the rain. They are fine on road and great off road. By a large margin this is a vastly improved tire. Years ago I ran the original MT's on a different truck. Had them on for one year and about 15,000 miles. It may be silly, but with 100% honesty it's the reason I haven't already pulled the trigger on some STT Pros.I am running the Firestone MT2's. The MTR I think is an ideal tire for the AZ trails. I love the BFG name but I wish some of their tires were kevlar reinforced like the MTR. BFG, Falken Interco, and and one Maxxis model (the Trepador) are the only ones that have a single lug that actually wraps around from the tread surface onto the sidewall. This review is great for us few that are thinking of running the KM3. In fact, something that is really common but really turns me off is that almost everybody puts this weird rib right at the shoulder that seems like would ruin the efficacy of having any traction features on the sidewall to begin with, and to my eye basically makes it look like it's only pretending to be aggressive. I agree that there are a lot of similarities in the tires I posted. What justifies that? and why do they need an extra 10 pounds per tire to do the same job as BFG or Goodyear? Hell, Interco isn't known for lightweight tires but the TrXus you suggested is closer to the weight of a BFG or MTR than it is to a Falken. The same applies to the Falken, which for whatever reason is also 20% more expensive than everyone else. I can handle what a tire throws at me as long as it's predictable, so maybe the wet weather traction shouldn't be a factor, but I'm gonna need a convincing reason to pay the price of 6 tires to only get 5. I realize I'm shopping for a 'mud' tire but it will see pavement since all the wheeling spots will be 2+ hours away and my kids like to ride in the Jeep to go out for ice cream (though probably not in torrential rain, usually). I've had KM2s before and they met those needs, and the general feedback I've read is that the KM3 is an improvement. I'm looking for a tire that will do good on some wet rocks, on what mud I can't manage to avoid, and not drive me crazy with imbalance or noise on the highway to the trail.
